Jamie O’Hara wants Tottenham to replace Postecoglou with 77-year-old
Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara believes that one 77-year-old manager can bring the feelgood factor back to Spurs in these trying times.
A season of crisis for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur’s campaign so far this season has been crisis after crisis after crisis. One of the crises is the club’s inability to field and rest players, because of the current injury crisis that has sidelined over 11 players this season.
The Premier League has been nothing but abysmal so far as well. The club currently finds itself in the bottom half of the table, just ten points above the relegation zone.
Another low moment this season, came during the most recent Carabao Cup performance against Liverpool on Thursday.
It was one of the worst displays from Tottenham Hotspur this campaign, as Ange Postecoglou’s players showed up without any fighting spirit and looked absolutely clueless for the whole ninety minutes.
Unfortunately, it was a case of rinse and repeat in the FA Cup against Aston Villa too.
In normal circumstances, a manager with such a track record will have been shown the exit door. However, Tottenham Hotspur are still sticking with their Ange Postecoglou.
Jamie O’Hara calls for Tottenham to bring back Harry Redknapp
Despite the club being linked with a few of Europe’s finest managers, Jamie O’Hara believes that 77-year-old Harry Redknapp, one of the Lilywhites’ most successful managers, could do a job and bring back the feelgood factor to Tottenham.
It all transpired on talkSPORT, when a fan called in and suggested that Spurs bring Harry Redknapp back to the dugout, and O’Hara was pleased with the idea.
“I wouldn’t give it to Mason, we’ve been here before. I would give it to Harry,” The caller said.
“Harry who?” O’Hara asked.
“Harry Redknapp,” The caller replied.
“It might bring the feelgood factor mate. You know what I’m all for Harry Redknapp, bring back Harry, bring in H, get him in,” O’Hara said.
Harry Redknapp’s time at Spurs
Despite sections of the fanbase calling for Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal, the club remain adamant that he is the man for the job and that the injury crisis, is the main reason for the poor turn of results.
While the Redknapp shout evokes nostalgia, we need to also realise that the 77-year-old has not managed in the top flight for well over eight years and has since retired from football management.
However, his spell at Tottenham Hotspur was successful. He spent four years at the club and in that spell, he managed two fourth-place finishes and two fifth-placed finishes.
One thing was sure, during his time at the club, they were competing consistently for a place in Europe something that Ange Postecoglou has failed to achieve this season.
