Eight players who could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer

0 13

As the summer transfer window edges closer, Tottenham Hotspur are set to continue to rebuild and reshape their squad. Incomings are great, but so are outgoings – Let’s find out eight players that could be shown the exit door this summer at Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur’s recruitment in recent seasons has been ambitious, aiming to push the club closer to their long-awaited return to the top four in the Premier League.

However, as much as adding new faces to the squad is essential, offloading players who no longer fit into the club’s long-term plans is equally important.

Eight players facing uncertain futures at Tottenham Hotspur

With the summer window now approaching, we have put together a list of eight players who could be leaving the Lilywhites.

Yves Bissouma

Bissouma falls under the category of under performing players who are just not cut off for the highest level of football. His campaign this season has been filled with loads of mistakes and inconsistencies.

There are games where he looks solid and unplayable, but then there are games where is absoultely awful.

The recent Carabao Cup outing against Liverpool, was one of the worst displays I have seen from him in a not too long while. With his contract is set to expire in 2026, this summer offers the club a perfect opportunity to cash in on him should offers come.

Richarlison

Richarlison, is not a bad player and I really do love him as a Spurs player, but the issue here is that he cannot stay fit. Given the amount of games that teams at the highest level are expected to play in a season, the forward just seems like a minus at the moment.

In his time at Spurs, he has made 81 appearances, however, at the same time, he has missed 48 matches because of injuries.

If the injuries can be fixed then he is a great player to have around, however, if it can’t, which is looking like that is the case, then his time in the Lilywhite of Spurs will be cut short this summer. A move to Saudi Arabia or even Newcastle might be on the cards.

Fraser Forster

Fraser Forster who is in his final months of his current contract, was a good backup for the club. However, he is now well into his thirties, 36 to be precise. With Kinsky and Austin ahead of him in the pecking order, Forster’s final game for Spurs will be coming sometime this season, if he has not already played it.

His experience has been valuable, but it is clear that the club is looking to promote younger options in the goalkeeping department.

Sergio Reguilón

Still on the theme of expiring contracts, we have Sergio Reguilón. The Spanish full-back has been a great professional throughout his time at Spurs.

Even after being outcasted from the team, he never made a fuss about it and when he was called upon, he was there giving his very best.

However, with the way he was treated, it is clear that his time at N17 is up, a new challenge elsewhere is the best thing for his career. There have been talks linking him with a move to the Turkish League.

Alfie Whiteman

Alfie Whiteman, 26, a goalkeeper, signed 2019, games played – zero. You get the gist by now, Spurs already have three goalkeepers and if Whiteman has not played since joining the first-team, then the club’s feeling about him is clear, he is not part of their plans. His contract expires and it will not be renewed.

Timo Werner

Timo Werner, it just never worked out for the German who is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. I mean his record almost certainly speaks for itself as he has managed just three goals and six assists in his forty appearances for Spurs.

His omission from the club’s Europa League squad, coupled with the club’s persistent chase for a forward, all but confirms that his loan will not be permanent.

Alejo Véliz

Veliz has had several loan spells away from Tottenham Hotspur, which is quite normal as he is still quite young. However, his loan spells have been far from encouraging, he is currently at Espanyol, he has played 18 games and has managed just one goal.

If an offer comes in for the player you will believe that he will be moved on. He is clearly down the pecking order, the likes of Scarlett, Solanke, Tel, Lankshear and Jamie Donley are players that get a place in the team ahead of him.

Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero, while it is not official and it is still speculative, there is a feeling that the Argentine’s time at the club is nearing its end, and this summer could be a time when he is moved on. Most of this speculation comes from Tottenham’s reported £70 million bid for Marc Guéhi.
