Tom Brady Admits He Hears More About Super Bowl Losses Than Wins

Tom Brady had a Hall of Fame career across 23 seasons in the NFL.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion was a central contributor to the New England Patriots’ dominance, winning six titles with the franchise from 2001 to 2019. In his final three seasons, he won his last Super Bowl title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He is widely considered the greatest quarterback of all time. However, Brady admitted that his Super Bowl defeats certainly impacted his legacy.

“When you lose this game, this is on your resume forever,” Brady said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Friday. “A loss in the Super Bowl matters more than any loss that you’re ever going to be a part of.

“When I go to Philly and (the fans) go ‘Philly Special, Philly Special,’ and I’m at the Knicks game with my son and Spike Lee, I throw him a ball, and he catches it on his head like the ‘Helmet Catch’ … that was 17 years ago, and I’m still living that thing down.”

Brady added that no one brings up the fact he was 10-4 in conference championship games.

“They all tell me about the Super Bowl losses though,” Brady quipped.

The legendary signal-caller said that during his last trip to the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay, he spent two weeks watching film, learning the Kansas City Chiefs players’ movements and body language. Whether or not that explains why Brady and the Buccaneers defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs remains to be seen. But Brady is the only quarterback to hand Mahomes a loss.

“You want to win this game if you’re Patrick because if you don’t, you’re 3-2 in Super Bowls,” Brady said. “It’s not a great feeling. There is a lot of pressure, certainly from my standpoint, as I got older, and I realized the enormity of this game and how important it is to actually win this game.”

Brady will be a part of the Super Bowl again, but this time as a broadcaster.
