Juventus may have beaten Tottenham to the signature of Randal Kolo Muani, but it turns out that Spurs returned the favour in the dying stages of the transfer window by stealing a player from under the Old Lady’s nose.

Juventus won the race for Randal Kolo Munai

It was widely reported that Spurs tried until the very last moment to convince Kolo Muani to come to N17, but in the end, the player opted to move to Juventus on loan.

Spurs fans will not be too displeased to miss out on the Paris Saint-Germain forward after the club secured a late deal to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites also handed the Bianconeri a transfer blow in the final days of the window by stealing one of their transfer targets.

Spurs beat Juventus with a late offer for player

This update comes from Tutto Juve, who say that it was not just Wolves who were keen on signing Kevin Danso, but also Juve.

The Serie A giants reportedly saw the Austrian as the ideal fit for their needs and were ‘one step away’ from securing a deal for him, with the player coming ‘very close’ to sealing a move to Turin.

However, Tottenham entered the picture at the last moment and made a ‘much higher offer’ to Lens, which was accepted by the Ligue 1 side.

The outlet speculates that Spurs were ‘forced to intervene’ in the race for Danso after learning that Radu Dragusin would be out of action for the rest of the season.

Kevin Danso was clearly not Tottenham’s top defensive target

If Danso was Tottenham’s number-one centre-back target, the club would have made a move for him much earlier in the window.

The fact that they waited until the likes of Wolves and Juventus were on the verge of wrapping up a deal before barging into the race suggests that there were other centre-backs Spurs were keeping an eye on.

However, it is very difficult to get your top targets through the door in January, and overall, Postecoglou will be pleased with the business that the club did.
