Red Sox Legend Shares Amazing News After ‘Extremely Emotional Day’

Wade Boggs received some amazing news on Friday.

“An extremely emotional day I can’t thank my doctor’s Dr. Engleman and Dr. Heidenberg enough also to everyone for your thoughts and prayers Debbie and I are pleased to announce I am cancer free,” Boggs posted to X.

Boggs, 66, made the announcement just five months after revealing that he had prostate cancer.

Boggs famously spent the bulk of his career with the Boston Red Sox (1982-1992), before moving on to have memorable stints with the New York Yankees (1993-1997) and Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998-1999). The National Baseball Hall of Famer was elected on the first ballot in 2005, a result of his five batting titles and 12 All-Star selections.

NESN previously called on the legendary third baseman to do fill-in color commentary for some Red Sox-Rays games played in Tampa Bay.

The Red Sox retired his No. 26 in 2016.
