Tottenham continue to have rotten injury luck

Tottenham have yet again been rocked with a major injury blow just as Ange Postecoglou started to see some light at the end of the tunnel, which has been the story of the club’s season so far.

The Australian will have been delighted to welcome back Micky van de Ven last week, but in the same game, he lost Radu Dragusin, who appeared to twist his knee after landing badly at the start of the second half.

It was reported on Monday that the Romanian’s scans had shown that he had suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, and Tottenham have now confirmed the bad news.

Radu Dragusin set to undergo surgery

Spurs have announced on their official website that the centre-back has indeed suffered an ACL injury and that he will undergo an operation to fix the issue.

The club have not provided an expected return date for the 22-year-old at this stage, simply stating that he will be assessed by the medical team over the coming weeks before a timeline can be given for his return to training.

With ACL injuries, players very commonly take at least six to eight months to heal, which means that the Tottenham man’s season is likely over.

Tottenham are better equipped to cope with this injury

While there is no doubt that losing another centre-back is a blow for Tottenham, the club are better equipped to cope with this setback following their signing of Kevin Danso.

With Van de Ven now back from his injury layoff and Cristian Romero edging his way back to full fitness, and with Ben Davies and Archie Gray looking solid whenever they have played in the heart of the defence, Dragusin’s absence might not be acutely felt – hopefully.
