Myles Garrett To Patriots? GM’s Remarks Don’t Bode Well For Hypothetical

Myles Garrett wants out of Cleveland, but that doesn’t mean the Browns have to trade him.

Garrett grabbed the attention of the NFL world Monday by putting out a statement in which he formally requested a trade. Patriots fans likely immediately started fantasizing about the six-time Pro Bowl selection rushing the passer at Gillette Stadium, especially given Garrett’s recent history with new head coach Mike Vrabel.

But after the star defensive end made his announcement, countless NFL reporters assured that Cleveland currently has no plans to move Garrett. Included in the reporting frenzy was an X post from The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov, who rehashed Andrew Berry’s answer last week when a reporter asked the Browns general manager if he would turn down two first-round picks for Garrett.

“Correct,” Berry told reporters, per Meirov. “You can put that on the record.”

Of course, that might have been media speak from Berry. The Browns have been smothered in negativity ever since Deshaun Watson arrived, and publicly making Garrett available for trade only would have made the loyal fanbase more restless.

But even if Cleveland opened up the phone lines for Garrett, it would be tough to imagine him landing in New England. The sides likely would work on a trade together, and the 29-year-old probably wouldn’t want to go from one rebuilding team to another.
