Manager Man United sacked could end up at Spurs, but fans might not like it
A manager who was sacked by Manchester United could make a swift return to the English top flight by replacing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.
Speculation continues to run rife over Ange Postecoglou’s replacement
While it is not clear how close Ange Postecoglou is to being sacked by Tottenham, speculation over his replacement has gone into hyperdrive over the last two weeks.
The names who have been put forward repeatedly by various outlets are those of Andoni Iraola, Thomas Frank and Edin Terzic.
However, more recently, the likes of Marco Silva, Kieran McKenna, and Mauricio Pochettino have also been mooted as candidates who are being considered for the N17 hot seat.
Spurs could make a shock move for recently sacked PL boss
Fichajes have now provided a shocking update by revealing that former Man Utd boss Erik Ten Hag is one of the names on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Postecoglou.
The report claims that the Australian has been informed after the loss to Leicester on Sunday that his position is in danger, with that result serving as the trigger for the club to ‘seriously evaluate’ candidates to replace the 59-year-old.
Ten Hag, who has been out of work since leaving Old Trafford in October of last year, is being sounded out by the Lilywhites.
It is asserted that the Dutchman’s experience and his ability to rebuild sides is valued by Tottenham, who are looking for someone to bring stability to N17.
The publication adds, however, that Spurs have not made a final decision yet and that the ‘new few days will be crucial’ in the club’s hunt for a new head coach.
There is no chance that Tottenham will turn to Ten Hag
This seems like completely baseless speculation as there is not one single factor that would make Ten Hag a good fit for Spurs.
His ideas are not new, he has failed in the Premier League, and he certainly would not offer tactical continuity, being far more pragmatic than the Australian.
Besides, it is well documented that Daniel Levy interviewed the Dutchman for the Spurs job back in 2021, but rejected him as he found him to ‘lack charisma’, eventually choosing Nuno Espirito Santo at the time.
