Ange Postecoglou shares when Guglielmo Vicario will return for Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Guglielmo Vicario’s recovery and revealed when he expects the Tottenham goalkeeper to be back out on the pitch.

Guglielmo Vicario is back in Tottenham training

Vicario has been out of action since fracturing his ankle in the win over Manchester City back in November, and the Italian has been a big miss for the side.

While Tottenham’s issues in goal have temporarily been solved with the signing of Antonin Kinsky, Postecoglou will be keen to have his number one back as soon as possible.

The Australian might not have to wait long after it emerged last week that Vicario is now back in training.

Postecoglou reveals when Vicario will return to action

The Tottenham boss has confirmed that the former Empoli man is indeed back out on the Hotspur Way training pitches and revealed that it is now a case of waiting until the goalkeeper feels fully comfortable.

The 59-year-old suggested that the Italy international should be available for selection in another 10 days.

When asked about Vicario, Postecoglou told Football.London: “He’s training now with [Rob] Burchy and the keepers, that’s the first good sign. It will come down to when he feels comfortable.

“The type of injury he had was not a muscle injury so it’s just a matter of if he can do all the actions he needs to do, goalkeepers are obviously a different position to other players. With him, over the next week or 10 days I’d expect him to be available.”

Having Vicario back will be a big boost for Tottenham

While Kinsky has shown a lot of promise, having the experienced Vicario back will serve as a huge boost to this inexperienced Tottenham side.

The Spurs number one adds a lot in terms of leadership and his presence on the pitch will serve as a calming influence on the defence.

Based on the timeline Postecoglou has provided, it sounds like Vicario should be available in time for the clash against Man Utd on February 16.
