In a shocking development, a young English manager is now reportedly being considered by the Tottenham hierarchy as a replacement for Ange Postecoglou, a journalist has revealed.

Who are the favourites to replace Ange Postecoglou?

As things stand, Postecoglou‘s future at Tottenham is far from certain, although the Australian will be hoping that the return of his key players from injury will help him arrest the team’s slide.

If the Australian is unable to do so, it has been suggested that Spurs may turn to the likes of Edin Terzic, Thomas Frank or Andoni Iraola to replace the 59-year-old.

A fresh update has put forward several new names as potential contenders, including one manager, who is currently in his first season as a Premier League boss.

Journalist reveals other options being considered including 38-year-old

This update comes from journalist Dean Jones who writes in his column for GiveMeSport that Iraola, Frank and Terzic are on Tottenham’s nine-man shortlist, but so are other Premier League coaches.

He explains that Bournemouth are keen to offer Iraola a new deal to keep him off the clutches of Spurs and other interested clubs.

Jones also names Marco Silva as a contender but points out that Daniel Levy might not be too keen to pay the £8m release clause in the Portuguese coach’s contract at Fulham.

Perhaps most surprisingly of all, the journalist mentions Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna as another name that Tottenham are keeping an eye.

The 38-year-old knows the club well, having come through the ranks of the Spurs academy, and he has garnered praise for his style of football and tactical accumbent, even though the Tractor Boys are currently sitting 19th in the table.

However, Jones adds that McKenna is focused on helping Ipswich avoid the drop and ‘would find it hard’ to leave Portman Road Stadium midway through the campaign.

Tottenham could turn to a familiar face in Ryan Mason

Despite mentioning all these names, Jones suggests that the most likely candidate to replace Postecoglou if he departs is one man who is now part of the furniture at Spurs.

He is referring to Ryan Mason, who is part of Postecoglou’s coaching staff and has already served as the club’s caretaker manager twice in the past.

Jones says that the 33-year-old enjoys respect within the Spurs dressing room and is considered ‘a strong candidate’ to hold the fort until the club secures a long-term replacement for Postecoglou.
