Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel attracting widespread interest

Over the last two days, Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel has made it clear that he is seeking more game time. This has prompted widespread interest from clubs across Europe eager to secure his services before the transfer window closes.

The 19-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes in Vincent Kompany’s squad, leading to a decision from Bayern Munich’s Director to allow him to leave should the right offer arrive.

Among the many suitors monitoring Tel’s situation, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a serious contender, with several sources confirming that the North London club are engaged in direct talks with Bayern Munich regarding a deal.

However, despite Tottenham’s firm interest, no agreement has been finalised, leaving the door open for rival clubs to make their move.

With the German giants willing to negotiate, the competition for Tel’s signature remains fierce, and now, it appears another Premier League club has entered the race.

Manchester United actively pursuing Mathys Tel

According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are still very much in contention for Mathys Tel and have taken active steps in their pursuit of the French forward.

The journalist states that the Red Devils have held fresh discussions with the player’s agent in an attempt to explore a potential deal.

Manchester United are said to be currently considering a loan move for Tel, however, despite United’s renewed efforts, Florian reiterates the fact that Bayern Munich have already reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham over a permanent transfer worth €60m (£50m).

Tel’s stance on permanent transfer revealed

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has also revealed that Manchester United are still hoping to sign the teenager on loan before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The journalist says that the Red Devils are ‘definitely still in the race’ for the Frenchman and both they and Bayern feel that the player prefers a loan move rather than a permanent transfer.

The fact that Tottenham want a permanent deal is given as the reason why Tel has not committed to joining the North London club yet.

Plettenberg adds that Ange Postecoglou‘s men are now ‘pushing for a decision’ from the pacy winger as we edge closer to the deadline.

Do Manchester United stand a chance of signing Mathys Tel?

Manchester United’s strong interest in Mathys Tel is something that Tottenham should be wary of, as both clubs are capable of offering the young forward what he desires most—regular game time.

Reports indicate that despite Tottenham’s advanced discussions, Tel himself was waiting to see whether Manchester United would formalise their interest – it is said that they are his preferred destination, alongside Arsenal.

This potential development is significant for Tottenham, who have already faced transfer setbacks this window.

If Manchester United do manage to secure Tel, it would mark the second time they have beaten Spurs to a target this month, following their successful pursuit of Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu – a player Tottenham were reportedly tracking.
