Tottenham want to sign a forward before the deadline

If you have followed Spurs Web’s coverage closely, you would know that several reliable sources, including Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, have confirmed that the Lilywhites are prioritising signing a forward before the February 3 deadline.

It is unclear if they will go for a versatile forward who can play across the frontline or an out-and-out number nine.

If they do decide to go for the latter, one name that might interest them is Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, with various reports suggesting that Spurs are monitoring the 20-year-old closely.

Evan Ferguson might not be keen on a Spurs move

The Telegraph have now revealed that Ferguson is indeed on Spurs‘ radar, with Ange Postecoglou‘s men trying to push through a late loan deal for the Republic of Ireland international.

However, it is explained that Spurs face a challenge in signing the Brighton man, who is also of interest to other clubs, including West Ham.

The report suggests that Ferguson might be reluctant to agree a deal to join Tottenham after seeing that Richarlison is available again and Dominic Solanke will return to full return to full fitness in around five weeks.

Signing a number nine will be difficult for Spurs

No out-and-out striker will be too keen to come to Tottenham, knowing that the club already have two £60m-plus centre-forwards at their disposal.

It would be easier and make more sense for the club to sign a versatile forward who can cover across the front three, which was seemingly their first preference, given their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani.

Whether Tottenham can find a player of that profile who is willing to make a late move to N17 remains to be seen.
