Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold inches closer to contract agreement with Real Madrid

0 4

Liverpool have completely defied expectations so far this campaign under manager Arne Slot.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League and Champions League standings after a spectacular start to the season.

While results on the pitch have been excellent, Liverpool face the prospect of losing their three most important players in Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.

Alexander-Arnold’s situation is particularly concerning, with Real Madrid hot in their pursuit of the right-back.

According to Relevo journalist Jorge Picon, Madrid’s deal with the 26-year-old is “98 percent” complete.

The Spanish giants wanted to bring him to the club in the winter transfer window. They submitted a £20 million offer for the talented player, but that was turned down by Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold’s current contract will expire in the summer and the Reds have yet to agree a new deal for him.

They still haven’t given up hope of extending the right-back’s stay at the club, but Los Blancos reportedly have huge confidence in securing his services for next season.

Huge blow

Alexander-Arnold is one of the finest talents to emerge from Liverpool’s academy.

He is a gifted player who has grown from a local lad into a global icon.

The 26-year-old has won the Premier League and Champions League trophies during his time on Merseyside. He has made an incredible 340 appearances in all competitions, with 21 goals and 87 assists to his name.

Considering his huge achievements at Anfield, it would be a massive blow if he leaves to join Real Madrid in the summer.

The club’s decision makers deserve criticism for the mishandling of Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation. Allowing a player of his calibre to enter the final months of his deal was a big mistake on their part, and that’s why they are currently in this difficult situation.
