Tottenham fans did not like the decision to sub Richarlison

Tottenham took the lead in the first half when Pedro Porro’s cross from the right was met by Richarlison with the forward scoring in successive Premier League matches.

Postecoglou admitted that the reason he took off the Brazilian international was due to the player feeling discomfort in his groin.

Mikey Moore was given the nod to replace Richarlison on 54 minutes with Leicester having found themselves in the box seat courtesy of two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half.

The call to bring off the striker was met with boos by large sections of the fanbase at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The defeat leaves Tottenham facing a relegation battle having failed to win any of their last seven Premier League games (D1 L6), their longest winless run in the top-flight since a nine-match stint between May and October 2008.

Why did Ange Postecoglou replace Richarlison against Leicester?

He told BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella, who took to X to share: “Richarlison was feeling his groin, he had to come off, I should have took him off at half-time and he wasn’t running out.”

Richarlison had previously been unavailable for Spurs since he suffered a hamstring injury in their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on November 3 before returning for the North London derby defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.

With Dominic Solanke already sidelined for around six weeks and the club having failed to sign Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG after the forward opted to join Juventus instead, the spotlight continues to fall on ENIC, Scott Munn and Johan Lange who have failed to back Postecoglou accordingly in the January transfer window.
