Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham vs Leicester City score

Mark Lawrenson has made his score prediction for Tottenham Hotspur’s upcoming clash with Leicester City and he expects one of the teams to end their long winless run in the Premier League.

Spurs have been poor, Leicester have been poorer

Tottenham secured a third win of the current calendar year in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Hoffenheim. Their form in the Premier League, however, leaves much to be desired.

Spurs have gone six league matches without a win, with five of those matches ending in defeat. This terrible run has seen them drop to 15th in the Premier League Table and an astonishing 16 points off the top four.

While such diabolical form offers little hope moving forwards, Spurs are taking on Leicester, a side who have only won three Premier League matches all season. The Foxes’ most recent win in the competition came on December 3, when they defeated West Ham. Currently they sit one place off bottom on 14 points.

Tottenham are stronger in attack than any other area of the pitch, second only to league leaders, Liverpool, on league goals scored. Spurs have found the net in their past seven matches in all competitions and Lawrenson believes this could help them seal the victory on Sunday.

Making his predictions on Paddy Power, he said: “It’s high time we had a reaction from Tottenham and this is a great chance to do so. There’s loads of problems with Spurs but they do normally score goals.

“Since Ruud van Nistelrooy’s come in Leicester have lost pretty much every game and they’re up to seven on the bounce now.”

Spurs will be expected to beat Leicester, but they lost their most recent league fixture to 16th place Everton. As well as this, they have been defeated by Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town when both sides were in the relegation zone.

Also, Tottenham failed to defeat a poor Leicester side in their opening Premier League fixture this season, despite dominating the first half.

If Spurs are to get their first league win since mid-December, they will need to bring their A game and avoid showing any complacency.
