Tottenham are one of four clubs interested in Wolves’ Matheus Cunha
Tottenham Hotspur have been named as one of the four clubs vying to sign Matheus Cunha, but the Lilywhites now have to deal with some firm competition from Champions League hopefuls, Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham are interested in Matheus Cunha
Ange Postecoglou has made no secret of the fact that Spurs need reinforcements upfront, but with less than two weeks left of the transfer window, it remains unclear who the club are prioritising at the moment.
Dominic Solanke’s injury has arguably made the situation an even more pressing one, and one man who has been mooted as a target for Tottenham over recent weeks is Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.
The Brazilian is having an outstanding campaign, with ten goals and four assists to his name in 21 Premier League games so far in 2024-25.
Nottingham Forest set to advance on Matheus Cunha
The Daily Mail have now also named Tottenham as one of Matheus Cunha‘s admirers, alongside London rivals, Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, it is explained that it is Nottingham Forest who are now showing the most interest in the Wolves man, having placed him at the top of their wishlist.
The report claims that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men want to add a striker to their squad this month in order to make a serious push for Champions League qualification.
Cunha has now been identified as a ‘primary target’ by the City Ground hierarchy, who are now showing ‘serious interest’ in securing the 25-year-old’s services ahead of the February 3 deadline.
Cunha’s contract situation at Wolves explained
Interstingly, The Mail report that Cunha’s entourage have held discussions with Wolves regarding a new long-term contract.
However, the publication suggests that the striker might be tempted by the possibility of playing European football elsewhere and could thus decide to bide his time before committing to a new deal in the Molineux Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether Wolves would be willing to part ways with their talisman mid-season and whether Spurs will get involved if he does become available.
