Patriots Reportedly Request To Interview Coach With Strong Mike Vrabel Ties

The New England Patriots reportedly are keeping one coordinator in place, but are in search for two more.

And it appears another name can be added to the defensive coordinator candidates list.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Monday night that the Patriots requested permission to interview Miami Dolphins outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow for their vacant defensive coordinator position. Crow is well-known to new head coach Mike Vrabel, spending six seasons on Vrabel’s staff with the Tennessee Titans.

Vrabel gave Crow his first NFL job, coming in 2018 as a defensive assistant coach with the Titans. Crow stayed alongside Vrabel throughout his tenure at the helm of the Titans and Crow seemed to make an impression since he received a couple of promotions.

After serving as a defensive assistant for two seasons, Crow was elevated to assistant special teams coach before taking over as outside linebackers coach for three seasons.

Crow is the first-known candidate to be interviewed to be Vrabel’s defensive coordinator. But just like the Patriots are doing for their offensive coordinator search, they will likely talk to several more coaches for the job before coming to a decision.
