Tottenham turn attention to in-form Championship striker after Randal Kolo Muani
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned their attention to a striker, who is scoring goals for fun in the Championship this season.
Have Spurs found a Randal Kolo Muani alternative?
Over the last week, there has been plenty of reporting on Tottenham’s pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani, with the Lilywhites and Juventus thought to be going head-to-head for the Paris Saint-Germain man’s signature.
It was suggested that PSG wanted any loan offer for the Frenchman to include a £50m obligation to buy while Spurs are only willing to add an option to buy.
However, Juventus have since won the race for Kolo Muani, using their Champions League football to convince him to join without a purchase clause.
It now appears that Tottenham are turning their attention to other alternatives, with West Bromwich Albion’s Josh Maja now emerging as a target for the North London side.
Tottenham’s interest in Josh Maja is ‘growing’
This update comes from Fichajes, who say that Maja‘s impressive showing at the Hawthorns since his switch from Bordeaux 18 months ago has ‘caught the attention’ of Tottenham.
The centre-forward has found the back of the net 12 times in 26 appearances in the Championship this season, and Ange Postecoglou‘s men have allegedly been impressed with the instincts he has shown in front of goal.
Chelsea are also named as fans of Maja, with the report stating that both clubs have shown ‘a growing interest’ in the 26-year-old and are ‘seriously evaluating’ the option of signing him.
West Brom’s stance on Maja revealed
Fichajes point out that the striker’s value is estimated at £15m, which makes him quite extremely affordable for both London clubs.
However, it is pointed out that West Brom are pushing for promotion and would thus hesitate to facilitate the striker’s exit this month unless they receive a sizable offer.
The publication adds that the competition for the Nigerian international will be ‘fierce’, with the player quickly becoming ‘one of the most sought-after players in English football’.
