Will Spurs make a move for a Randal Kolo Muani alternative?

It is now clear that Juventus have won the race for Kolo Muani, who is expected to sign for the Serie A giants on a straight loan until the end of the season.

Spurs reportedly tried until the very end to convince Muani to come to N17, but they were unable to do so, with the 26-year-old being persuaded to come to Turin by Thiago Motta.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham will turn their attention to another forward or if they will decide to wait until the summer transfer window to get one of their top targets.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear in the past that Spurs will not sign players for the sake of it and would only go after the right profiles who have been identified as a good fit for their system.

Fabrizio Romano on Kolo Muani and Spurs’ next steps

Romano has now revealed that Juve’s offer of Champions League football was a crucial factor in Kolo Muani choosing the Bianconeri over Tottenham.

The journalist explained that Spurs were preoccupied with the Kolo Muani deal until this week, and we will now see them push ahead with moves for other forwards.

When asked if the North London club have a backup plan in place, Romano told GiveMeSport: “I’m sure they do, but no concrete name leaks yet. From today we will see, as yesterday Spurs tried until the end to convince Kolo Muani and get the green light from the player.

“PSG accepted both loan proposals from Juventus and Spurs, but then the player decided to go with Juventus because of Champions.”

What kind of a forward will Spurs sign?

We might not know exactly who Tottenham have identified as alternatives to Kolo Muani, with the new Lilywhites recruitment regime preferring to operate in secrecy.

However, we do know exactly the profile they will be going for, with the club on the lookout for a versatile, pacy and energetic forward, who can operate across the front three.
