Heung-min Son names the Tottenham goal he has watched ‘100 times’
Heung-min Son speaks about some of his best moments in a Tottenham shirt and admits that there is one goal that he has watched more than 100 times.
Heung-min Son’s most iconic Tottenham goal
Son is now nearly a decade into his career at Tottenham and has produced countless special moments on the pitch, which will be remembered by the Spurs faithful for a long time.
The South Korean has a penchant for scoring wondergoals, possessing an ability to unleash fierce strikers from outside the box with both feet, but there is one goal that stands head and shoulders above the rest.
That is the one he scored in Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Burnley in 2019, where Son picked up the ball deep in Spurs’ half and ran past nearly half to the Clarets side before slotting the ball into the back of the net, a strike which won him the 2020 Puskas Award.
Son speaks about his goal against Burnley
The Tottenham captain’s contract has now been extended until 2026 after Spurs activated a one-year option, which raises the possibility that his journey at the club is going to continue beyond a decade.
Son sat down with the club’s official channel to go through some of his best moments in the Lilywhite shirt, and when his goal against Burnley came up, he admitted: “I’ve watched this probably more than 100 times I think! What can I say? Unbelievable luck and will never score again like this and, yeah, what a goal.”
He also gave a shoutout to Dele Alli, who was one of the first to celebrate alongside Son after his wonder-striker. The 32-year-old added: “You see my best friend, Dele.”
Son picks his favourite moment in a Tottenham shirt
Interestingly, that goal is not the moment that Son picked as his favourite memory at the club.
Instead, he picked the brace he scored in Tottenham’s 5-0 win away at Norwich in the final game of the 2021-22 season, which ensured that he finished the season with 22 goals and shared the Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah.
Son said about the clash at Carrow Road: “When I pick one moment, I think it has to be the Norwich game. Just the journey, it starts from the journey. You know, the day before, you know how we prepare for the game.
“We were playing for Champions League, we were winning at half-time 2-0, and everyone was playing for me. That game just meant so much to me, because it’s just, everyone was sacrificing for me, and in the end scoring, that goal moment… wow!”.
