La Liga club want a 2025 summer discount to sign Tottenham man
One La Liga club are planning to enter into a negotiation with Tottenham at the end of the season and are hoping to get the Lilywhites to drop their demands for one of their players.
Tottenham man blossoming out on loan
Not a single Spurs fan will be surprised at the fact that Bryan Gil is demonstrating his quality week-in, week-out on loan at Girona.
The winger’s talent has never been in doubt and while the jury is still out on whether he has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, he is once again showing that he can be a fierce weapon in La Liga.
The 23-year-old’s displays at the Estadi Montilivi have even seen him return to the Spanish national side and it looks inevitable that the wide-man will leave Tottenham permanently in the summer.
Girona’s plan to sign Bryan Gil from Tottenham
A report in Estadio Deportivo has now revealed that Girona are indeed planning on making Gil‘s stay at the club permanent and they are now formulating a plan on how to do so.
It is explained that the La Liga club have a €15m (£12.5m) option to buy the Tottenham man at the end of the season, but they do not want to activate it.
Instead, they want to get into negotiations with Spurs and pressure the North London club to lower their asking price for the former Sevilla man.
Is it an option to buy or a release clause?
While this report and other recent updates from Spain have suggested that Girona have an option to buy Gil, other sources have claimed instead that there is a £12.5m release clause in the winger’s contract which will become active next summer.
It could be the case that Girona have the first option on the Spaniard but one would imagine that plenty of other La Liga clubs would be happy to pay such a fee for the winger.
Spurs will thus not be losing any sleep over Girona’s stance as they will anticipate a lot of competition for Gil’s signature.
