In-form Arsenal star stretchered off just days before Tottenham derby
One key Arsenal man was forced off with an injury in the Gunners’ FA Cup clash with Manchester United, thus raising the possibility that Mikel Arteta’s men could be depleted even further when for the upcoming North London Derby against Tottenham.
Tottenham hope to build on momentum against Arsenal
Tottenham have had a mini resurgence with wins over Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal and over Tamworth in the FA Cup third round.
They will be hoping to take some confidence into the big game on Wednesday, with the Lilywhites visiting the Emirates in search of a rare three points at the ground.
However, Spurs are still without several of their key men, with Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison currently on the mend.
Arsenal lose another key man to injury
The Gunners have injury concerns of their own, with, Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, and Ethan Nwaneri currently on the treatment table.
The quartet have now seemingly been joined by Gabriel Jesus, who came off with an injury towards the end of the first half against Man Utd on Sunday.
While we are still waiting for an update on the Brazilian’s condition, he was carried off on a stretcher, which makes it seem unlikely that he will recover in time for Wednesday’s clash.
Beating Arsenal will serve as a big moral boost for Spurs
Tottenham have come through a tricky period over the last two months, and have been battered and bruised along the way.
However, Postecoglou‘s men are still throwing punches and there finally seems to be a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. A win over Arsenal on Wednesday could be the turning point in the club’s season.
Back-to-back home wins against Liverpool and the Gunners would be no easy achievement but could help instil some confidence in the players that they are moving in the right direction.
