Tottenham hiring new medical staff after a review into the department
We have now received confirmation that Tottenham Hotspur are indeed set to make big changes to their medical staff, with the club revealing that they are now accepting job applications for some key positions.
Tottenham reviewing medical staff in light of injury crisis
Spurs made big changes to the medical department just last summer, including parting ways with their former head of medicine and sports science, Geoff Scott, and replacing him with Nick Davies, who was formerly of Wales and West Ham.
However, the new regime under Davies has not fared much better, with Tottenham players dropping like flies over the course of the season.
There have been some alarming developments, including the fact that the likes of Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven all picked up fresh injuries in their first game back from a previous injury layoff.
That is why it has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are set to conduct a thorough review of the medical staff and their various practices.

It looks like that review has been conducted and the club have decided to make some big changes to their medical staff.
Spurs have now posted recruitment ads confirming that they are looking for a First Team Performance Rehabilitation Coach, A Head of Men’s Medical, and a First Team Rehabilitation Physio Therapist.
Ange Postecoglou admits injuries are not just down to bad luck
Last month, Postecoglou himself confessed that one cannot put the increasing number of muscle injuries at Tottenham just down to bad luck. The Australian revealed that the club are taking steps to address the situation.
When asked about the number of injuries that his side have suffered this season, the 59-year-old said: “I never think it’s just bad luck. Some of it is. I’ve never lost a goalkeeper for this period of time [before]. But some of it is recurring, particularly this year in terms of guys coming back and re-injuring. It’s something we’re looking at.
“We’re always trying to explore whether we can do things better. Last year was different to this year. Last year it hit us across the board. This year it’s more guys that are coming back who are affected. Knock on wood, we’ve got a core group who are playing a lot and are getting through it ok. But it is something we are trying to address.”
