Will Tottenham buy a central midfielder this window?

Spurs have not had as many personnel issues in the middle of the park as they have had across other positions as, on the whole, the midfielders have managed to remain fit for most of the season.

However, Rodrigo Bentancur has had a stop-start season owing to his suspensions, and he is now staring at the prospect of another spell on the sidelines after suffering a concussion against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Postecoglou could thus be tempted to enter the market for a midfielder, and one player who has consistently been linked to a move to Spurs over recent weeks is Inter Milan man Davide Frattesi, who has struggled for a game time the San Siro this season.

Tottenham ready to negotiate a deal for Davide Frattesi

An update by TuttoMerrcatoWeb has now claimed that Spurs are ‘ready to get down to business’ in their pursuit of the 25-year-old, who is said to seeking to exit the Serie A club this month.

It is revealed that Frattesi recently met with manager Simone Inzaghi over his playing time and was informed by the Italian coach that his squad hierarchies are not going to change.

The former Sassuolo man is thus looking for a way out and while there is interest from Napoli and Roma, it is Tottenham’s interest that is ‘concrete’.

How much would Spurs have to pay for Frattesi?

TMW states that there is a belief among Frattesi’s suitors that Inter would be open to negotiating down the price and that an offer of €35m (£29.3m) could be enough to sign him.

The publication adds that the Italy international’s future is likely to become even clearer over the next few days for Ange Postecoglou‘s men.

This is because a key meeting has been scheduled between the Inter hierarchy and Frattesi’s entourage to discuss whether a January sale can be executed.
