Tottenham could sign both Randal Kolo Muani and a 17-goal striker
It has been suggested that Randol Kolo Muani might not be the only striker to come through the door this month, with Tottenham also considering signing another prolific forward.
Spurs pressing ahead with a move for Randal Kolo Muani
It appears quite clear now that Randal Kolo Muani is Tottenham’s top striker target this window, with a number of sources talking up the Lilywhites‘ interest in the Paris Saint-Germain man.
In fact, it has emerged over recent days that Spurs are now on the verge of sealing an agreement with the Frenchman and are hoping to conclude a deal for the 26-year-old by the end of this week.
Unfortunately, since then it seems Juventus have jumped into the front of the race for Muani, with the PSG saying ‘yes’ to the Serie A giants.
However, Kolo Muani is not the only striker who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, with reports continuing to suggest that Lille’s Jonathan David is on the club’s radar.
Spurs could sign both Randal Kolo Muani and Jonathan David
It has now been claimed by journalist Ben Jacobs that Tottenham’s move for the PSG man does not mean that they have abandoned their pursuit of David.
He claimed that Spurs’ interest in the Canadian international remains strong and that they could revisit a move for the 24-year-old at the end of the season even if they are successful in signing Kolo Muani.
Jacobs told The Last Word on Spurs: “Jonathan David was in the mix for Tottenham. They asked for the terms of the deal last summer, available on a free. And who knows, Tottenham might buy two.
“They may add a Muani plus one. And if they spend big money on Muani on a loan with obligation, it would be normal to look for something more economical. So David’s a bit of a free hit, might not be the most popular with every fan base within the sort of Big Six clubs that have been linked, but you don’t lose anything by adding David plus maybe another name.
“And that might come into Tottenham’s thinking come the summer, not David instead of, but David in addition to. So we have to wait and see, but I’m not aware they’ve made a more concrete move since inquiring last summer. I think West Ham and Newcastle and even potentially Milan could all be clubs to watch.”
David is not a January target for Spurs
The one thing that appears clear is that Spurs will not sign another striker in January if they get Kolo Muani, particularly with Richarlison looking set to stay until the summer.
If the club do make another attacking addition this month (which seems unlikely), it would be an out-and-out winger, who can take on and beat players.
All signs point to the fact that David will leave Lille on a free transfer at the end of the season, and Tottenham may explore a deal for the former Gent man in the summer, depending on a number of other factors.
