While a rumoured Tottenham midfield target is not looking to leave his club this month, it has been suggested that the Premier League side will get their man if they put a sizable offer on the table.

Spurs reportedly eyeing a move for Inter Milan star

The player in question is Davide Frattesi, who had an impressive first season at Inter Milan but has struggled to get starts under his belt this campaign.

It first emerged back in November that Tottenham are fans of Fratessi and see him as a potential option to bolster their midfield. The player is also said to be intent on leaving the San Siro in search of regular game time.

The same information was backed up just a couple of days ago by TBR Football, who claimed that Fratessi’s representatives have made it known to Spurs that their client is available.

Journalist reveals what Tottenham have to do to sign Davide Frattesi

Journalist Fabrizio Biasin has now revealed that Inter have no plans on selling the former Sassuolo man in January. The player himself has also not asked for an exit this month.

However, he suggested that Ange Postecoglou‘s men could get Frattesi if they were to tempt the Nerazzurri by putting a €50m (£41.6m) offer on the table.

When asked about the midfielder’s future, Biasin told Radio Sportiva (as relayed by L’Interista): “Inter themselves have no intention of moving the boy, certainly not in January unless an admirer brings in €50m.

“I would rule out the possibility that he could leave, unless he is the one to tell the management that he no longer wants to stay at Inter. So far he hasn’t done so.

“I can understand that in the future he will want to look for more space elsewhere, I don’t think for January. I read about Tottenham‘s interest but the management says no, they won’t move in January. Then it is always a question of money, with €50m anything can happen.”

Would spending big on Frattesi make sense for Spurs?

It seemed quite clear that Tottenham were in the market for an energetic, box-to-box midfielder in the summer, with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Jakob Ramsey being mooted as targets.

Frattesi certainly fits that bill, and he would be an upgrade on Pape Sarr and elevate the Spurs midfield technically if not physically.

However, spending over £40m on the Italian, particularly in the January window, seems unlikely. This looks like a deal that Tottenham may revisit in the summer.
