Iain Robinson appointed Head Coach of Women’s Team

0 4

Queen’s Park has appointed Iain Robinson as the Head Coach of Queen’s Park’s Women’s squad. He moves from Rangers, where he was coach of the Women’s Under 17 squad.

Iain, who gained his UEFA A Licence in 2022, has coached at a number of clubs including Greenock Morton, Partick Thistle and BSC Glasgow Community Sports Club

Iain brings David Brownlie to Queen’s Park as his assistant. David has make nearly 100 senior appearances with Scottish SPFL clubs such as Elgin City, Airdrieonians and Stranraer as well as Lowland League sides East Kilbride, Linlithgow Rose and Junior team Pollok. David previously coached at Rangers 17s with Iain.

Iain said: “ I am really looking forward to getting started at Queen’s Park. I’ve always had ambitions to lead and work at the top of the women’s game and Queen’s Park are a great club to fulfil that dream. The challenge, which I realise will be difficult, is to stay in SWPL1. I believe that if we can get the basics right, then we have a real possibility of staying in the division.

“I’ve brought David Brownlie in as assistant Head Coach. I’ve worked with David for the past two years at Rangers. He is one of the best coaches I have ever worked with. He is excellent on the pitch, with a good rapport with players. We get on well and understand how each other works. An excellent partnership.”

Iain and David with Head of Women's football John McNeil

Head of Women’s Football, John McNeil commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Iain and David to the club. We set out with a very clear vision of what we wanted for the next Head Coach of Queen’s Park Women and Iain ticked all the boxes, both Iain and David are very dynamic and forward-thinking coaches and that’s exactly what I wanted while going through the recruitment process.

When we had a chat with Iain, he was very thorough in his analysis and vision and his attention to detail and coaching style was clear from the first word.

Both have a great pedigree in the youth game with great success and are eager to take to carry that forward with them, which I have absolutely no doubt they will.

I’d like to place on record thanks to Rangers, who were fantastic and very supportive in their assistance and co-operation to get the deal done swiftly.”

Iain’s first game, in charge of the Spiders, is on Sunday at home to Rangers.  Kick off 12:30 pm at Ochilview Park.
