Stanford hires Sam Fisher ’14 as assistant general manager of football program

0 2

Stanford alum Sam Fisher ’14, MBA ’19 has been named assistant general manager for the Stanford football program, he announced Monday on X. Fisher will work alongside current Stanford general manager Andrew Luck on setting strategy and utilizing data to evaluate high school and college prospects.

A familiar face to the Stanford community, Fisher brings a wealth of experience both within and beyond the Farm. During his time as a student, Fisher was deeply involved in campus media, serving as managing editor for The Daily’s sports section and sports director and head broadcaster for KZSU, Stanford’s student-run radio station. Fisher later returned to Stanford in 2017 to pursue an MBA at the Graduate School of Business, graduating in 2019.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in 2014 as a symbolic systems major, Fisher continued to build his career at the intersection of sports and technology. He founded Right Call in 2015, a sports technology company that worked to address the lack of beneficial software products in sports. Fisher also worked as a product manager at Oracle and served as an executive coach, mentoring startup founders and young executives in leadership and strategy.

As Stanford progresses during its first offseason of football under Luck’s leadership and prepares for the evolving landscape of professionalized college sports, fans should anticipate more specialized hirings within the revamped operation.

While the Cardinal have gone 3-9 during the past four seasons, the recent move from the administration to build a front-office for the football program displays a renewed effort to improve Stanford’s standing in the college football world.

The Daily has reached out to Stanford football for confirmation of Fisher’s hiring.
