Club are happy to send forward back to Tottenham in January
One club are more than happy for Tottenham to recall their loanee this month as they plot new signings in the January window.
Spurs youngster has struggled again on loan
Alejo Veliz had an extremely forgettable spell on loan at Sevilla last season as he barely got any minutes. He would have been hoping to put things right in Espanyol this season, but in some respects, this loan has been even worse for the striker.
At least at Seville, the 21-year-old can point to the fact that he simply did not get an opportunity to show what he can do, but this season, the Argentine has not delivered the goods despite getting ample chances.
He has scored just once in 14 La Liga appearances for Espanyol, having now fallen out of favour at the club, and it emerged last month that the youngster would welcome the opportunity to end his loan spell prematurely in January.
Espanyol are happy to end Alejo Veliz’s loan spell
AS now say that the La Liga side are ready to send the striker back to Tottenham and are already plotting moves for potential replacements.
It is explained that they would need to trim their wage bill in order to make new signings and would thus be happy for Spurs to recall their player.
In fact, it is revealed that they even allowed Veliz to join training late this week, giving him an extra few days off. The publication sees as evidence that they do not expect the player to stick around in Catalonia for too long.
Veliz’s loan spell seems certain to end in January
It would seem that it is now in the interest of all three parties to terminate the centre forward’s loan spell.
Spurs would want the former Rosaria Central man to play regularly, as would the player himself, while Espanyol seemingly want to get him off their wage bill.
Tottenham may be considering sending Veliz on loan to a Championship club for the second half of the campaign.
