Amad Diallo wins double Manchester United awards - report
Amad Diallo has won Manchester United‘s Player and Goal of the Month for December 2024. He is the first player to win both awards at the same time this season.
The talented forward easily saw off competition from Manuel Ugarte and Harry Maguire to win the Player of the Month after receiving 78 percent of the votes.
While United had a terrible run of results in the month, winning three and losing six games in all competitions, Diallo was outstanding.
The Ivorian started the month with a man-of-the-match performance in the 4-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford by registering two assists in the fixture.
The 22-year-old then got another assist against Nottingham Forest, setting up Bruno Fernandes for his goal in the encounter.
His best performance was in the 2-1 win over Manchester City. He won the penalty that put United on level terms and scored a marvellous goal to secure the victory.
Diallo was benched for the following fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-final. He came on as a substitute and registered a goal and an assist.
He finished the month with the most goal involvements, racking up two goals and four assists across all competitions.
Diallo has received the Player of the Month award twice this season, which is the most of any United player.
His stoppage-time winner in the Manchester derby was also voted the Goal of the Month.
The Ivorian received a pass from Lisandro Martinez and lobbed the ball over Ederson before finishing with aplomb from an acute angle.
He scooped the prize over Rasmus Hojlund’s decisive strike against Viktoria Plzen, Fernandes’s goal against Forest and Joshua Zirkzee’s effort versus Everton.
Diallo’s decisive strike versus the Cityzens is also in the running for the Premier League’s December Goal of the Month.
He had a dip in form towards the end of the month, and manager Ruben Amorim must find a way to get him back to his best for the clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
