Tottenham want Jack Grealish but there are two hurdles to overcome
An update has suggested that Tottenham remain extremely keen on landing Jack Grealish but face two stumbling blocks to getting the deal over the line in January.
Is Jack Grealish a realistic target for Tottenham?
A number of outlets have reported over the last few days that Tottenham are circling over Grealish and are ready to pounce should Manchester City sanction a move for the attacking midfielder this month.
However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has pointed out that Spurs would only be able to sign the Englishman on loan and that the deal would only be possible if Man City cover a portion of his £300,000-per-week salary.
The same information has also been backed up by Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe, who suggested that City may not be willing to subsidise the player’s wages, deeming the move as ‘very likely’.
Tottenham face two stumbling blocks to signing Jack Grealish
TBR Football have now also talked up Spurs’ interest in the Man City star, revealing that he is a player the club have admired for a long time.
The report says that Postecoglou‘s men believe that the 29-year-old will elevate their starting eleven and would love to bring a seasoned player like him to N17.
However, the outlet adds that there are two stumbling blocks to the transfer, with Grealish‘s wages being just one of them.
The other is that the England international is more than settled and happy in the north-west, and it would be a challenge to persuade him to come down South.
A loan move must be easier to sell to Grealish
If Tottenham are exploring a loan move for Jack Grealish, it would presumably be easier to convince the attacking midfielder to come down to London for six months.
However, there are too many potential stumbling blocks for this transfer to go through and it remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola would want to lose a squad player in January, given City’s recent struggles.
