Tottenham open talks with two centre-back targets for Postecoglou
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly begun talks on potential deals to sign a Bundesliga and a Ligue 1 centre-back as the club steps up their efforts to bolster their backline.
Tottenham’s injury situation has necessitated defensive reinforcements
While Tottenham have four centre-backs in their squad, three of them are currently on the treatment table, with Radu Dragusin being the only one who has managed to stay fit through this season.
Additionally, their two first-choice central defenders, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, have a poor fitness record, constantly breaking down with muscle injuries, which is why Ange Postecoglou is thought to be prioritising an addition in the heart of his defence.
The same information has now been backed up by TBR Football, who say that Spurs have already begun work on deals to sign two defenders.

It will not come as a surprise for Spurs fans to learn that one of those is Lens starlet Abdukodir Khusanov, who has been heavily linked with a move to the North London club over recent weeks.
TBR Football say that both Tottenham and Newcastle have opened talks regarding a deal to sign the Uzbekistan international, who is expected to be available for around £25m.
The report claims that the Spurs and the Magpies have both done their homework on the 20-year-old and they believe that he has the qualities to hit the ground running in the Premier League.
Leeds United are also said to be on the Lens man’s trail, but it is revealed that the young defender is not keen on a move to the Championship at the moment.
Tottenham are also working on deal for Ko Itakura
Further, the outlet explains that Tottenham are not putting all their eggs in the Khusanov basket and are also doing groundwork on a deal to sign a Japan international.
The player in question is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura, who Ange Postecoglou came up against during his time with the J-League side Yokohama Marinos.
According to the publication, Spurs have already spoken to intermediaries over a deal for the 27-year-old, who has 18 months left on his contract at Gladbach.
