One Tottenham teenager netted what is undoubtedly the best goal of his career so far to help his side emerge with an important away win on Sunday.
Spurs midfielder has found his goalscoring boots
George Abbott never really had a reputation of being a goalscorer, being a tough-tackling number six, who has occasionally even played as a right-back for Tottenham’s youth sides.
The 19-year-old has been getting some important minutes since his loan switch to Notts County in the summer, having established himself as a fixture in the base of the League Two side’s midfield.
However, the youngster has now seemingly found his goalscoring boots, having netted his first league goal for the club in their Boxing Day fixture at MK Dons. The teenager had previously netted his first goal of the season a few weeks prior in their FA Cup tie away to Peterborough United.
George Abbott scores a wondergoal
Abbott has now proved that those two strikes were not a fluke, finding the back of the net yet again for Stuart Maynard’s men, who emerged with a thrilling 5-3 win away from Cheltenham on Sunday.
Abbott’s strike was one that even the likes of Steven Gerrard would have been proud of, with the youngster running onto the ball and striking it on the half-volley, managing to cut across the ball in such a manner that it curled into the top corner.
