Spurs academy man George Abbott gets his long-awaited goal

George Abbott is thought of very highly at Tottenham, having made his senior debut for the club in the final game of the 2022-23 season aged just 17.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder captained Spurs‘ Under-21 side to the Premier League 2 last season and his performances attracted the attention of Notts County, who secured his services on loan in the summer.

The youngster has been a regular in the base of the Magpies midfield in League Two this season and he finally got his long-awaited first league goal on Boxing Day.

Abbott is not known for his goalscoring prowess, but he netted his first goal for his loan club in their FA Cup tie away to Peterborough United a few weeks ago.

The teenager has now scored in the league as well, delivering a 57th-minute opener for his side away at MK Dons as Stuart Maynard’s men emerged with a 2-0 win.

The Tottenham academy graduate showed good awareness in the box to take a touch away from the defender before producing a finish that went in off the post.
