Tottenham make January transfer decision after Postecoglou U-turn
Tottenham Hotspur have decided not to listen to offers for one player in January as Ange Postecoglou has had a change of heart on the back of his recent performances.
Djed Spence has had to be extremely patient at Tottenham
A lot of Spurs fans were scratching their heads about why Djed Spence was not getting more opportunities earlier this season, particularly after the full-back was rewarded with a new contract back in October.
The 24-year-old has finally got starts under his belt in Tottenham’s last three matches, owing to the club’s injury situation in defence, and he has arguably been their best player across those games.
The Englishman’s displays have come just in the nick of time, with the club reportedly changing their stance on him ahead of the January window.
Ange Postecoglou’s U-turn on Djed Spence
GiveMeSport now claim that Spence will not be heading through the exit door in next month’s transfer window, with Postecoglou keen to keep him on board.
The report says that admirers had been enquiring about the former Middlesbrough man’s availability over recent weeks, and they had been kept waiting.
However, Postecoglou and influential figures have reportedly been extremely impressed with Spence’s performances against Southampton, Man Utd and Liverpool.
Much to the frustration of the interested clubs, the Lilywhites have now decided that they would not entertain any more offers for the full-back.
Djed Spence set to get more opportunities
In fact, the report goes on to state that Postecoglou has been so impressed with Spence’s displays that the Spurs boss has decided to give the Englishman more opportunities over the coming weeks.
It is claimed that Spence will be given a chance to prove his worth and show that he deserves to be starting.
It is even asserted that Destiny Udogie may face ‘a tough task’ in winning his place back in Tottenham’s starting eleven.
