Stanford football commit Tyson Ruffins flips to rival Cal
Former Nevada offensive guard Tyson Ruffins flipped his commitment from Stanford to Cal on Saturday. The 6-foot-2, 291-pound offensive lineman was widely considered to be one of the best offensive lineman in the Mountain West last season, starting nine games for the Wolfpack in 2024. While Ruffins took the majority of his snaps at left guard, he is also able to play right guard and center.
Ruffins’ decommitment is a huge blow for the Cardinal, who are looking to rebuild their offensive line after years of poor play. The former Nevada guard would have likely started immediately for Stanford on the interior offensive line. The Cardinal still have four commitments in this transfer portal cycle, which include two defensive backs, one offensive tackle and one wide receiver.
Now, Stanford will need to look elsewhere to find more starter-level interior offensive lineman.
