NFL Announces Schedule Change For Patriots-Chargers Week 17 Game

While Patriots fans might be having a hard time watching their hometown team every week, it seems the NFL wants more eyes on Drake Maye and company.

The NFL on Tuesday announced the Patriots will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 28. The Week 17 clash, originally scheduled for Dec. 29, is one of three games moved from Sunday to Saturday.

The 3-11 Patriots will host the 8-6 Chargers with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

Other games flexed to Dec. 28 include Denver Broncos-Cincinnati Bengals (4 p.m. ET) and Arizona Cardinals-Los Angeles Rams (8 p.m. ET).

The ability to showcase a head-to-head matchup between Justin Herbert and Maye, two of the top young signal-callers in the league, proved too tempting to pass up despite New England’s uninspiring product outside the quarterback. As for LA, the Bolts currently hold the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture.

New England’s Week 16 game against the Buffalo Bills was moved from Sunday at 1 p.m. ET to 4:25 p.m., as well.
