0 2

Derry City FC has this afternoon confirmed the arrival of Andy Mitchell as the club’s new first team coach.

The 32-year old was part of Tiernan Lynch’s backroom team at Larne; becoming the club’s Technical Director with a key role in the Inver Park side’s Academy.

Speaking today on the Derry City website, Mitchell said he had no hesitation in accepting the offer to join the new management set-up at the Brandywell.

“Tiernan signed me as a player and then brought me into his backroom team at Larne and I have really enjoyed working alongside him and Seamus.

“They are relentless in everything they do; no stone is left unturned and they will get the best out of this football club- no doubt about it.

“I’m really excited by the challenge at Derry City and I can’t wait to get going” he added.

The City manager said he was delighted that Mitchell had agreed to join him on Foyleside and felt that the pieces were starting to come together.

“He’s a very talented coach and a real student of the game who is always looking to improve and develop both himself, and the players he works with.”

“Andy is very demanding and sets high standards that he expects players to adhere to.

“He had no hesitation in accepting the role at Derry City and I have no doubt he will relish this challenge.”
