Spurs one of four PL clubs chasing Serbian wonderkid ahead of January
Tottenham Hotspur are one of a whole host of clubs across Europe plotting a move for one young midfielder, who is expected by many to become the next big star to emerge from Serbian football.
17-year-old now making waves in Serbian football
The player in question is Red Star Belgrade wonderkid, Andrija Maksimovic, who despite being just 17 years of age, is already emerging as one of the best players in the Serbian top light.
The attacking midfielder has scored three goals and assisted twice in five league games this season while he has also looked the part in the club’s Champions League fixtures.
Unsurprisingly, the Serbian international is now on the radar of several big clubs around the continent, including Tottenham.
Spurs are one of many clubs after Andrija Maksimovic
TBR Football report that Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle are all keeping an eye on Andrija Maksimovic’s progress.
Additionally, the attacking midfielder is also said to be of interest to the likes of Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Marseille and RB Leipzig.
The outlet says that Liverpool have been tracking the midfielder particularly closely, with the teenager thought to be valued at around £12m by his club.
Red Star expect Maksimovic to leave sooner rather than later
Red Star are under no illusions that they will be able to keep hold of the exciting youngster for too long, with a move to one of the clubs in Europe looking inevitable for the player sooner rather than later.
This was admitted recently by the club’s technical director Marko Marin, who remarked that the midfielder is one of a kind.
Marin told Informer about Maksimovic: “He is an exceptional talent. His football IQ is on a whole other level. Such a player is rarely seen. Unfortunately, I’m sure we won’t be able to hold on for long.”
