Departed Spurs defender convinced Postecoglou is 'the right man for the job'
One former Tottenham defender, who departed the club permanently before the start of the season, has explained what Ange Postecoglou was like to work with and why the Australian is the right fit for Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou continues to silence critics
It feels like every single time that Postecoglou‘s critics begin to grow louder, the Tottenham head coach delivers a result that silences them.
That is exactly what happened on Saturday as the knives were sharpened ahead of Spurs’ trip to the Etihad, only for the Lilywhites to deliver a commanding display and thrash the Premier League champions 4-0.
It was the kind of result that once again showed the potential upsides of the current project, with Spurs reminding everyone how irresistible they can be when they are at their best.
Japhet Tanganga backs Postecoglou to succeed at Spurs
Japhet Tanganga might have only worked with Postecoglou for a brief period before he was shipped out on loan last year, but the defender saw enough signs of encouragement in pre-season under the Spurs head coach.
The Spurs academy graduate, who made the permanent switch to Millwall in the recent transfer window, admits that he was impressed with the 59-year-old’s ideas.
When asked about Postecoglou, Tanganga told SportsBoom.com: “I think he’s a very good coach, a very good manager. I feel like he’s the right man for the job at the moment.
“I did pre-season with Ange and that’s when I left to go out on loan with Millwall last season. He was very good. In my opinion, I was very impressed with what I saw during my time with him and the way he wanted his team to play.
“In training, he wasn’t the most vocal. He was observant and liked to watch, but when it came to matchday you could really hear and feel his presence. That’s what stuck out for me from the friendly games I participated in.”
The Spurs players have fully bought into Ange’s methods
The one thing that has been evident since the time Ange walked through the door is that the players have fully bought into the Australian’s ideas.
Even when results have not gone our way, the players have continued showing belief in the team’s style of play, and one can tell from the way they speak about the current Spurs boss that they are enjoying playing under him.
That is why rumours of a fallout between Ange and some of the senior players always seemed like a stretch, with the body language of the Spurs stars telling a different story.
