Patriots 2.0? Rob Gronkowski Credits Chiefs When Comparing Dynasties

The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t that far from the New England Patriots. In fact, they’re very close in the eyes of four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

Under two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs have already collected three Vince Lombardi trophies, with a window for more. Mahomes is only 29 years old, the team has gone a perfect 9-0 to start its latest run at the Super Bowl and the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift magic is alive and well.

Gronkowski, too, doesn’t evension anything changing anytime soon.

“I feel like they’re Patriots 2.0, man,” Gronkowski told George Balekji on NESN’s “Boston Has Entered The Chat” podcast. “They definitely have a dynasty. They’re dominating. Three Super Bowls in the last 10 years. They got head coach Andy Reid, who’s like (Bill) Belichick — runs a tight ship. And then they got Patrick Mahomes, who’s like (Tom) Brady, Travis Kelce, who’s like me, Chris Jones, who’s like Vince Wilfork. So they got so many guys that are simialr to the tradition that we had going with the New England Patriots.”

For now, the Cheifs have their work cut out for them if they want to continue going after the Brady-Belichick Patriots dynasty responsible for delivering six Super Bowl titles to Foxboro. Kansas City is halfway there and currently on track toward becoming the NFL’s first team — and ninth in league history — since Brady and New England in 2003, to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
