The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 15th November) Ampadu hits back at 'Boring' performance jibe

Good Morning. It's Friday 15th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Ampadu hits back at 'Boring' performance jibe

Ethan Ampadu has hit back at whinging fans grumbling about some of the counter productive performances his team-mates have subjected fans to this season. Supporters understand that ultimately its the result that matters, and many of the clubs Leeds have come up against will make it difficult by getting ten men behind the ball, and slow the game down at every opportunity, which will make it difficult to play free flowing football against.

The talent and riches available to Daniel Farke will be the envy of every single Manager in the Championship and as such there is an argument that the players are under performing this season, in a league they should be dominating. According to Capology, the average Leeds player earns just over £130,000 a month, almost four times more than the likes of QPR (£34,745 per month). As such, shouldn't fans expect better performances, especially at Elland Road, or is it just the result that matters?

According to Amps...

We try and make it entertaining. Obviously, we come up against a lot of teams who maybe have a low block, try to slow the games down. “Maybe, sometimes, that’s just how the game goes. For us players, we want to play in an entertaining way, but at the end of the day we want to do what we’ve got to do to get the result.

Thankfully, more often than not, we’ve had that this season. But don’t worry, we’re trying to give entertaining football. Sometimes, the game can be broken up into a slower pace but that’s not always just our fault.

Leeds likely to beef up front line in January

Leeds are likely to bolster their attacking options in the New Year according to LeedsLive journalist Dom Howson. Messrs Piroe (6) and Joseph (2) currently take it in turns to lead the line, but neither have quite lived up to expectations. Piroe has performed best when coming off the bench and doesn't contribute as much a Joseph, whose tally of a goal every 415 minutes will do very little to help the Whites win promotion.

It has been suggested that Joffy and Bamford could leave Elland Road in January, which would free up a place or two for new recruits. Whilst inverted winger / 3rd striker Largie Ramazani (when fit) and attacking midfielder Brenden Arronson will continue to support the front line, the Whites may need further goal-scoring options if they are achieve a top two finish come May!

Signing a new forward is likely to be at the top of Daniel Farke’s shopping list heading into the January transfer window. “It is well-documented the Whites looked at a number of attacking players, including Gustavo Hamer, Roland Sallai, Emi Buendia James McAtee and Fabio Carvalho. Ultimately, they failed to bring in a new face and are lighter in that department following Georginio Rutter’s big-money move to Brighton and Hove Albion.
