Spurs fans will hate what Richard Keys just said about trophy hopes
Richard Keys makes a bold statement following Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town, which will sting a lot of Spurs fans.
Tottenham’s season in danger of falling apart
While Tottenham are going strong in the cup competitions so far, on the evidence of their results so far in the Premier League, a top-four finish might be beyond them this season.
For all the talk of a long-term project under Ange Postecoglou, the Australian might struggle to keep his job if the Lilywhites fail to qualify for the Champions League again.
Some Spurs fans will feel that the club might need to put all their eggs in the Carabao Cup and Europa League baskets this season, but Keys believes that winning a trophy might be beyond Postecoglou.
Richard Keys says Tottenham fans might as well give up
Keys believes that on the evidence of what we have seen over the last few years, that elusive trophy might never actually come for the North London club.
He suggested that it is time for the supporters to make peace with the fact that they will never see the club lifting silverware.
The pundit told beIN SPORTS: “I think Tottenham fans might have to accept that they’re never going to win another trophy. They’ve got a fabulous stadium to play football in that occasionally they will enjoy watching their team in.”
No reason why Spurs cannot win a cup this season
While Tottenham’s lack of consistency has been a major issue in the Premier League, Postecoglou‘s men have shown that they are good enough to beat any side on their day.
There is no reason why they cannot go all the way in the Carabao Cup, particularly given that they are just one game away from a semifinal.
