International Round-Up: Miller Shines For Socceroos

There were nine Hibees on international duty over the last week; read our full round-up below!

Lewis Miller – Australia

It was a productive international window for Lewis Miller, who played a key role in the Socceroos World Cup qualifying matches against China and Japan.

Under new manager, Tony Popovic, the Socceroos got their campaign back on track with a 3-1 win over China in Adelaide with Miller scoring a crucial equalising goal on the stroke of half time – his first senior international goal.

Miller’s standout performance earned himself another start against Japan in Saitama. The full-back played another important role in their 1-1 draw, setting up Australia’s opening goal with a dangerous cross that was deflected in by a Japan shirt.

Those two results lift Australia up to second in Group C of their World Cup qualifiers.

Nathan Moriah-Welsh – Guyana

Nathan Moriah-Welsh added another two caps to his Guyana tally – taking his total number of international appearances to 20.

The Hibernian midfielder started both matches, however, he was on the losing side both times with Guyana falling to a 3-1 defeat at home to Guatemala and 5-1 away to Suriname in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Rocky Bushiri – DR Congo

Dr Congo continued their 100% winning start to their Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The Leopards beat Tanzania home (1-0) and away (2-0) to make it four wins from four. Rocky was part of the squad, but did not feature in either match.

Hyyeokyu Kwon – South Korea

Kwon received his first call up to the South Korea national team after his impressive performances for the Hibees.

The central midfielder has been capped up to Under-23 level previously but this was his first involvement with the senior team.

South Korea beat Jordan (2-0) and Iraq (3-2) to move them up to the top of Group A in their World Cup qualifying group, however, the Hibs midfielder didn’t feature in either match.

Nohan Kenneh – Liberia

Nohan Kenneh started both matches for Liberia in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

They played Equatorial Guinea home and away, losing 1-0 away and 2-1 in Liberia. Kenneh now has 14 caps for Liberia.

Murray Johnson – Scotland U21s

It was a disappointing week for the Scotland Under 21s who fell short in their bid to qualify for the 2025 European Championships.

The young Scots lost to Belgium 2-0 at Tynecastle, before travelling to Kazakhstan needing a win to stand a chance of qualification.

Unfortunately, Scot Gemmill’s side fell to a 3-2 defeat in Kazakhstan – meaning they finished third in Group B behind Spain and Belgium. Murray Johnson was an unused substitute against Kazakhstan.

Rudi Molotnikov – Scotland U19s

Rudi Molotnikov was once again called up to the Scotland U19s squad for their friendly matches against Hungary.

The creative midfielder featured in the first of those matches – playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 victory in Debrecen.

Arran McSporran and Ben Vickery – Scotland U16s

Young Hibees Arran McSporran and Ben Vickery were both called up to the Scotland Under-16 squad for the Victory Shield.

Arran McSporran started their opening match against the Republic of Ireland, with the Scots emerging victorious on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

McSporran and goalkeeper, Ben Vickery, both started in their next two matches with the young Scots falling to 1-0 defeats against both Northern Ireland and Wales.
