Dartford Whites 2 – 2 Borehamwood

Dartford Whites conceded twice in eight minutes as two points were snatched from their grasp in a last gasp 2-2 draw with Borehamwood.

After a slow first half from both teams, Dartford Whites were quick out of the blocks taking a 1-0 lead minutes into the second-half.

Albie O Mara-Knapp played it through to Joseph Kpaka who showed great quality with a convincing finish.

Dartford Whites were in the driving seat from then on, troubling the Borehamwood keeper on a number of occasions. The dominance would pay off in the end.

A cross from the right-hand side came in and ricocheted out after a good block and Todd Brand was in the right place at the right time to double the lead.

Brand’s goal, despite being a right-back, bumps his tally to joint top scorer this season.

Dominating the game and with a two-goal cushion, it looked as though the three points would be taken by The Whites.

However, 85 mins in Borehamwood got one back heading home at the near post from a corner.

In the 93rd minute the team gave away a penalty and Borehamwood went on to equalise at the death.

Academy manager Ben Greenhalgh spoke after the game. He said: “It was a good performance but a bit frustrating not to hold on to a comfortable lead.

“It’s clear we are missing some first team players and other players where they are dual registered that would’ve taken us over the line today. But our main objective is to help progress our players into our first team and others when on loan, so it’s great to see how they are doing.

“We were looking for three points back on the board but a point is a point and we are starting to get back on track and build momentum again.”

The draw leaves Dartford Whites just two points from the top. They now travel to Dover on Wednesday the 9th as they look to get back to winning ways.

“We’ve got Dover next week and that is a good rivalry so we will look to pick up three points from there,” Ben added.
