Tottenham turnaround

While results have started to turn around for Tottenham after a poor start to the season, Postecoglou will argue that his side have played well in all of their Premier League games this season.

The Lilywhites have created many big chances in almost every game while conceding far fewer opportunities than they did last season.

With Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson finding their goalscoring boots, the North London side are now making the most of their chances and putting opposition sides to bed.

Stats show dominance

The numbers certainly show how Tottenham have been a cut above the rest across the Premier League.

DataMB have now plotted the possession and expected goals of each side on a graph, with Spurs having the second most possession after Manchester City while having the highest xG by far.

The graph shows that Postecoglou’s men are in a league of their own.

Defensive improvements

While these stats are impressive, what will arguably please Postecoglou even more is Tottenham’s improvement at the back.

Spurs now look in much more control of matches than they did at times last season and are thus giving away fewer chances to the opposition.

The Lilywhites have the joint second-best defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded just five goals in their first six league matches.
