One Tottenham star has made it back into his national team set-up after being left out of the Euros squad in the summer – and he certainly deserves it.

Shocking decision

While there was a lot said about James Maddison’s omission from the England squad for the Euros, the bigger shock was arguably Spain’s decision to leave out Pedro Porro.

Luis de la Fuente chose to take Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navaz ahead of the Spurs man, which left many surprised, considering that Porro had been one of the best right-backs on show in the Premier League.

However, the 63-year-old coach will argue that his decision was vindicated, with Spain lifting the trophy in Berlin on July 15.

Pedro Porro back in the Spain squad

Porro will be delighted to learn that he has finally been able to force himself back into the La Roja set-up.

The Tottenham star has made it into the final 23-man squad for Spain’s upcoming Nations League clashes against Denmark and Serbia.

Porro displaces Navas in the squad and the 25-year-old will be hoping to cement his spot in the side for the long term by showcasing his skills if he gets an opportunity on the pitch.

Porro a wanted man?

The former Sporting Lisbon’s stock continues to rise and it has been rumoured that he is now on Real Madrid’s radar.

It was reported by CaughOffside on Thursday that Los Blancos had identified the Tottenham man as a potential alternative to Trent Alexander-Arnold if a deal for the Liverpool man proves out of reach.

The report asserted that Madrid are big admirers of Porro, and should the right-back impress on the international scene, one would imagine that it would only strengthen the La Liga side’s resolve to sign the player.
