Mikey Moore reveals when he first found out about his full Tottenham debut

Mikey Moore reveals that he did not know until very late on that he would be starting against Ferencvaros for his full Tottenham debut.

Moore lived up to the billing

There was a lot of excitement among Spurs fans when they saw Moore’s name in the starting lineup against Ferencvaros.

Not only had the 17-year-old impressed in pre-season but he had also delivered a superb cameo off the bench against Old Trafford in the 3-0 win.

The teenager did not disappoint, showing tremendous balance and poise on the ball, going past players with relative ease.

Moore makes admission

The winger completed 90 minutes and played a key role in the build-up to Tottenham’s opening goal. He certainly did not harm his prospects of getting regular game time over the coming months.

However, the youngster has confessed that he did not know until 4 pm that he would be making his full debut in Hungary.

When asked about the feeling ahead of his debut, Moore told TNT Sports: “To be fair, I only knew about four o’clock today, so yeah, it’s come quick, but I was ready to take it really.”

When asked if it was better that he found out late in the day and if he was nervous, he added: “No, to be fair, it’s what you work for, obviously, it is a bit of nerves coming into it but once you get on the pitch you’re all right.”

Tremendous character

While it is one thing to have a lot of ability, for a 17-year-old to go to a hostile European away ground and deliver that kind of performance in difficult conditions, shows tremendous character.

The youngster was certainly not fazed by the occasion and looked like someone who knew he belonged at this level.

There is no doubt that we are going to see a lot more of Moore over the rest of the season.
