Fresh injury confirmed, 2 big changes | Expected Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Porto with Mainoo & Hojlund decisions made

0 6

Manchester United take on Porto in tonight’s Europa League clash at the Estadio do Dragao.

The Red Devils are winless in the last three games with two draws and one defeat. They need a strong response against Porto on the road with manager Erik ten Hag under pressure.

Ahead of the game, the club have been handed a double injury boost with Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire fit to play, but Mason Mount has missed the trip with a fresh knock.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Andre Onana has been ever-present for United in the Premier League and European games since his arrival.

He was brilliant against Tottenham Hotspur with seven saves and helped the club avoid further embarrassment.

In front of him, it should be the same backline, but we could see a positional change for Diogo Dalot.

Dalot has clearly struggled on the left side of the back four. He was outrun by Brennan Johnson at the weekend.

The Portuguese was also poor with his distribution and concentration from the role.

We expect him to return to his preferred right-back spot with Noussair Mazraoui operating from the left tonight.

Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez should keep their places in the heart of the defence.

Kobbie Mainoo has recovered from a minor hamstring injury scare, but he may not be risked from the starting XI.

We anticipate Manuel Ugarte to be partnered by Christian Eriksen with Mount unavailable for the game.

Further forward, Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue from his customary number 10 role for United.

The Portuguese has been in poor form lately, but he remains the club’s most creative outlet in our view.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho should likewise reclaim their places from the left and right wing positions respectively.

Garnacho was United’s best forward player on Sunday. Rashford was not at his best, but he has the knack for creating big chances.

Up front, Rasmus Hojlund could make his first start of the season after injury, given Joshua Zirkzee has failed to score since the curtain-raiser.
