What David Andrews Told Jacoby Brissett About Serious Injury

Jacoby Brissett on Wednesday highlighted his relationship with David Andrews as one of the main factors that pulled him back to New England.

Unfortunately for the pair of Super Bowl LI champions, they will only play four games together this season.

Andrews sustained a shoulder injury last Sunday in San Francisco, and three days after the Week 4 contest, Jerod Mayo revealed the veteran center planned to undergo surgery that will likely end his season. Brissett spoke to Andrews when he still was mulling his options, and the exchange offered a reminder of the latter's toughness.

"It's tough when a guy like that goes down, but he's not going down with anything minor," Brissett told reporters, per a team-provided video. "I talked to him this morning. He's like, 'I think I'm going to try (to play).' I was like, 'Dave. C'mon, man. As much as I would love you to.'"

Playing through the injury reportedly would have put Andrews' 2025 season in serious jeopardy, so he seemingly chose the surgery route to ensure he will be healthy next year. Brissett might not be around in Foxboro, Mass., when the 10th-year pro returns to the field, though, as he's on a one-year contract and will eventually be usurped by Drake Maye.

As for the present, Brissett is expected to take snaps from Nick Leverett while Andrews is sidelined.
